Dear Mr Barritt,
Apologies for the delay in replying to your letter of 8 October concerning the price point of £3 for the Heffers Academic Diary.
Due to the spiralling cost of paper production and printing, we have unfortunately been forced to apply a charge to our diary, or indeed abandon production. The £3 price point in fact barely covers our costs, but in recognition of the popularity of the diary we have produced it and priced it as low as is economically viable.
However, due to the exorbitant cost of low print runs we have actually printed a higher quantity than is likely to be sold, and 1 would expect that come early December we would be in a position to donate the surplus to various bodies. Therefore if you could let me know how many copies you would need to enable your members to have a copy each, 1 can promise you an early "bite of the cherry".
I look forward to your response.
Best Wishes
