Minutes of the Elevenses meeting of the Pembroke College Winnie-the-Pooh Society
held in Room 6, 40 Panton Street, from 4:06pm Saturday 25th April 1998
Present: Alison, Ben, Andrew, Michael, Tony, Rob, Stephen, Jenny, (the) James, Henry, Oliver, Yasmin, Chris, Clare from Homerton
Apologies: The Lady Foundress (cooking a goose), Sibylle (in Germany), Kirsten (in Whitby), Vicky (watching Spartacus), Vicky (also in Whitby) (the blanket has flu)
- The meeting is opened slightly late.
- Rob asks where Alison keeps her duvet. The answer is not recorded for posterity, however I doubt posterity is too bothered about this.
- We contemplate minuting straight to the computer to save typing up later, but decide not to bother.
- Rob gets steam cleaned by the kettle.
- Alison says here only contact with the outside world is through Ben's room.
- 40 Panton Street is just like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. If you say so, Rob.
- Michael asks Jenny "Do you want to play on the bed?" They decide to play with each other on the floor, and a game of "Hungry Hippos" follows.
- Ben wants to talk maths... Stephen looks at some equations for Ben. They agree they are definately in greek letters.
- It has been 10 minutes before bestiality is mentioned. But it has been.
- Joy and Andrew ran away from some very drunk women last night. This sounds somewhat unlikely, beggars and choosers and all that, but it's true.
- Tony reads the minutes from the last meeting, with a multitude of hesitations, repetitions and deviations.
- Its not easy to fit us all in one room. Should the meeting decamp to the garden, the pub, or the bed? The last option sounds very crowded.
- Jenny looks at Michael's feet and says "you have long toes, that means you are inteligent, doesn't it?".
- More poeple arrive - Henry, James, Oliver, Chris, Yasmin, and Yasmin's Homerton friend, Claire. Oh 'eck, how will we all fit in? James leaves again.
- Tony continues to read the minutes.
- Russel sticks his head into thge room, says "no Ben", then leaves.
- Ben reads the punting minutes from 14th March.
- Michael wants to pick Jenny's jumper apart.
- There appear to be blood stains on Alison's curtains.
- Ben and a Sheila (spit) person's eyes met across a crowded room at a party.
- Vote to censure Ben in general F10 A3 Ab0. Motion passed.
- Ben opens a comitee meeting and proposes the last vote be overturned. F2 A3 Ab0, motion failed.
- Vote to censure everyone in this conversation because it's boring. Unanimous.
- Claire to be able to vote in the meeting, including retrospectively. Unanimous.
- "Look what you've done you've sliced my hand you horrible person" - Jenny to Michael.
- Alison warns us she might have naughty things in her drawers.
- Ben will try to book the garden party for the Monday of May Week.
- People do weather man (ok, JT, weather person) impressions.
- Rob to wear his rabbit costume to the Garden Party F10 A2 Ab1. Motion carried.
- David Henderson appears at the window.
- Henry was accosted by Richard Whiteley's niece, who thought he was Carol Vorderman. So there.
- James-who-is-not-the-James goes past the door, but he doesn't join us. A totally unknown bloke waves at us, though.
- Henry rummages in Alison's drawers.
- Bens says "can I have a finger please?" Gratuitious inuendo about some chocolate biscuits.
- Ben states that his toothbrush is "knackered". Michael and Jenny find this inexplicably hilareous. We ask them to come to the front and explain what is so funny, but they won't.
- A survey of the colour of people's toothbrushes is taken
Claire     pink           jenny       purple         Tony        white/red            Ben   white/green
Yasmin   purple       Micheal   white           Andrew    yellow
Chris      purple       Henry      orange         Stephen    blue/green
Oliver     clear         James      grey             Rob         purple
- Rob talks about lycra with a dreamy look.
- Oliver's brain starts to melt (?!).
- Claire doesn't have a favorite Pooh story, so we read "In which a search is organdised and Piglet nearly meets the Heffalump"
- Michael breaks Alison's gyroscope, but gives it Jenny so she will get the blame. Most unfair.
- Jenny wants it to be recorded that Michael made a sexist comment, but when pressed for further details just says "something not very nice".
- Various people sing "Sit on my Face". But no ones does.
- What are Jenny and Michael doiing on the corner of the bed?
- Michael massages Ben's neck.. Is that not rather Sheila(spit)-like? Michael says Ben has bones in strange places. Alison and Jenny have a grope.
- Piyush arrives, then runs away again.
- "PoohSoc is neither the time or the place to show your backside".
- Michael and Jenny are dropping hairs on Ben.
- Richard Bolton arrives - "I should've come later" he says.
- The meeting is closed, after one of the longest readings we've had. F8 A3 Ab2. Thank God for that! Next week's meeting will be in Michael's room, N1a.
