PEMBROKE COLLEGE WINNIE-THE-POOH SOCIETY
MINUTES OF THE ELEVENSES MEETING, 30/11/96
Held in D12
Present: Vicky, Ben, Stephen, Andrew, Cybille, Jon
Apologies: Rob, Charles.
- Vote to censure Jon for not being present at the start of the meeting despite his exalted offices: F: 2, Ag: 0, Abs: 1. Motion carried. The dam has finally broken, it seems, and Jon's days of rule are numbered. Ben has them eating out of his hand...
- Andrew is not, despite previous warnings, wearing his fluorescent pink tutu. Further lapses of this sort will be severely dealt with, young man!
- It is proposed that we go on a Woozle Hunt some time next term: F, 4, Ag., 0, Abs. 1. Motion carried.
- Cybille pays her Pooh Levy.
- Jon finally arrives, crying, "Altitude sickness! The air's too thin!" It is 5:17 and he is castigated most viciously.
- We declare the Intelligence Report that Acting Foreign Secretary and Spy to the Gentry, Ben, got on the activities of the Sheila and Her Dog Society (spit, spit) to be actually a Non-Intelligence Report, as this is what it seems to have to tell us.
- Jon takes three biscuits, despite his poor showing thus far.
- It is proposed that, due to the number of offices Jon is holding (and failing to perform) that the EGM must be as soon as possible, i. e. next week. F: 4, Ag.: 0, Abs.: 2. Motion carried.
- Motion from Vicky to please cut the cake: F 3, Ag. 1, Abs. 2. Motion carried.
- Ben wishes it to be minuted that the cake is unbeatable value!
- Ben says to Vicky, "Of course you can cut the cake, you're a woman!" but survives despite a dangerous intake of breath from Cybille.
- Jon tells everyone the story of Chris Timms and the cake card, which will now never be explained to future generations. Ha ha ha!
- Jon has referred to the tutu that Andrew should be wearing as orange in the minutes, when of course it should be pink. There is consternation and uproar, not least from Andrew, who perhaps feels that orange would clash?
- Stephen reads the minutes of the last meeting.
- Vote to censure Jon on a generally inaccurate and shoddy set of minutes: F, 4, Ag., 1, Abs. 1; motion carried.
- Jon, by way of revenge, brings up Ben's failure to complete his penance to the station. Ben pleads not guilty by reason of insanity. Vicky suggests counselling, but it is generally felt that this would be unfair on the counsellor. Cybille is meeting Ben's tutor tomorrow and will mention the matter to him...
- Cybille has been playing Poohsticks without us! And she won,. which only makes it worse.
- The Non-Intelligence Report is read and Operative Parker commended for his valuable undercover work.
- The textual inconsistency question the Sheila and Her Dog Society (spit, spit) raised with Ben is discussed, and dismissed with vim and aplomb by Jon as piffling, misconstrued and irrelevant. So nyah.
- Apparently Andrew was on holiday in Trinity Library. He denies this, but fails to convince anyone.
- Vicky departs, apologising.
- Andrew reads the Wilcockson paper from the Society Archive and Jon Skeet's (ptui!) one from Sheila (spit). While we are doing other things. And he keeps laughing at the funny bits. Some people, eh?
- We decide to victimise Andrew, and move that as a penance for failing to wear a tutu he paints his nails. F: 3, Ag. 1, Abs. 1; motion carried.
- We are to ridicule Rob: he must turn up to the next meeting in full Scout uniform or face our wrath. F: 3, Ag: 1, Abs. 1; motion carried.
- The posts vacant at the EGM are outlined by Jon. Ben says he will stand for both President and Foreign Secretary. Cybille wants to be Kanga, and Ben wants Piglet despite the health consequences.
- Ben moves to go on-line with the all-new Poohsoc home page. F: 4, Ag: 0, Abs. 1; motion carried.
- "Chris Timms desperately needs the thing." Another obscure reference to the man Arkansas to baffle future generations.
- We read "In Which Pooh and Piglet nearly catch a Woozle".
- Next week's meeting will be in U9 at 4.
- Vote to close - F: 3, Ag: 0, Abs. 1; motion carried.
